Micro consolidation centers in urban environment : development of a holistic sustainability-focused framework for realization
- Urban infrastructures are more and more affected by urbanization and the rising need for freighttransports to distribute required goods arising from an increasing local consumption. Subsequently, air and noise pollution, resulting partially from a growing traffic density, are affectingmore and more the livability within cities. To counteract these developments, new and innovative solutions have been developed, where especially the Micro Consolidation Center (MCC) hasmoved into the center of considerations, as it helps to reduce the amount of traffic and corresponding pollution. Nevertheless, a holistic approach on how to sustainably realize a MCC in anurban eironment is missing. Consequently, this paper aims to create a framework to support asustainability-focused realization of MCCs in an urban eironment.
