IR communication on social media : why investor relations need to change their mode of communication

  • Nowadays, social media are a central source of information, but they are hardly used for investor relations (IR) communication. Only 22% of IR departments in Germany, for instance, use them as a communication channel (Hoffmann et al. (2018)). In this first article of our series on social media IR, we explain why social media will become indispensable for financial communication in the future. We also show how companies implement social media IR in practice and explain the most important dos and don’ts.
